Zouk Music
- Zouk originates from the French
Caribbean and is sung in French Creole. The sound is sweet, melodic and is
often refered to as 'Zouk Love'. The word Zouk translates to 'party' and the
music certainly creates a positive, happy atmosphere.
- Kizomba is an element of this genre
of music. It originates from the Portuguese speaking African countries of
Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
- An example of a type of Arabic music
used for the dance is the 'Kiss Kiss' song by Tarkan, or music by Alabina.
- As you become more accustomed to
hearing the Zouk beat you will begin to recognise other songs in the charts
with a similar beat. The biggest recent ones are 'Whenever, Wherever' by
Shakira and 'Girlfriend' by Nsync.
